In 1937, the Republican government promoted the departure from Spain of thousands of children to different countries which volunteered to take them. Part of them were taken to the Soviet Union, the strongest ally of the Republic during the three years of the War and, at the same time, the highest example for many socialists and communists that the “utopia” was becoming real. RED FAN, on the one hand, recovers Alejandra Soler’s story, a woman who was these children’s teacher, and on the other that of several people who suffered from the exile in Russia and returned to Spain later.

“We have lived sitting on suitcases, thinking that the next day the Franco Years would be over and we would return to Spain; to us the end of the Second World War was a failure, we were certain that the triumph over fascism all over the world was the end of the Franco Years in Spain…”
